Bright Brussels
In september 2022 Bike for Brussels approached us to design a light installation for Bright Brussels 2023.
Placing cyclists in the spotlight
The goal of the installation was to show the positive evolution of cyclists in Brussels. Bright Brussels takes place in the darkest time of the year and that is why Bike for Brussels wanted to put a spotlight on the cyclists. They gathered data about how many people cycled passed a certain point in Brussels. Every pole represents a place where they counted the cyclist and every ring is representative for a year from 2019 to 2022. The installation was presented in February of 2023, so every installation had a small ring on top for the year that just started.
Prototype
In the first prototype we wanted to place the rings around trees so they would literally become year rings.
We didn't get permission from the city to use the trees so we had to shift to making our own structures.
Developement
After the concept development the project was refined and developed by Ctrl Alt
